About Me

Growing up in a large family in Wisconsin, I spent considerable energy as a child either outdoors or finding a quiet place to draw and paint. My passion for the outdoors and creativity led to a long career in Landscape Architecture, designing outdoor spaces.

Painting in earnest began upon retirement to express the world around me. Florida’s long warm season allows ample time to explore the diverse and enchanting landscapes with abundant color and sunshine. Those outings are inspirational to my work.

My work reveals naturalistic and impressionistic styles, depending on the subject. Everyday scenes and informal settings are frequently utilized, with good composition and bright colors. Typically, a scene or object is painted with a ‘twist’ – with vibrant colors offering pizzazz, and a sense of joy and looseness. My work involves painting with both acrylic and watercolor mediums, as each allows for an explosion of color in distinct ways.
